Comet Comet Comet

Comet at Dogs Trust - West Calder

A Male tri-colour Crossbreed who is age 5 to 7 years old

Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter

Shelter Location: Bentyhead West Calder EH55 8LE

Likes and dislikes: Comet is a super dog who loves to explore on his walks, he likes to have a good root around in the long grass and sniff all the interesting smells. He's an intelligent boy who knows most of his basic commands and will happily show off in exchange for a few tasty biscuits. Comet is a gentle, shy guy who needs a little time to get to know you. He is a sensitive wee fellow who needs help to build his confidence.

Type of home needed: Comet would prefer a quiet home where he can relax and get to know his new owners slowly. Comet was originally a stray so needs a secure garden with people who have had dogs before. Comet has so much potential and just needs a family who can help him realise it.
Minstrel Minstrel Minstrel

Minstrel at Greyhound Awareness League

A Male Black Lurcher who is age ~2

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Pet Location: Kennels

Minstrel is a lurcher, who is approximately two years old and is a gorgeous, affectionate and playful boy. In the home environment he is calm and relaxed. He loves cuddles and is fully housetrained.

Minstrel has had some basic training in the past but has also taken to clicker training with enthusiasm! He loves to interact with people, although he can be a little shy around men initially, and responds well to praise and encouragement. Minstrel bonds strongly with people and he does have some mild separation issues but these could be improved on greatly within a home environment.

We don’t think that Minstrel has had the opportunity to learn about things that he may encounter outside of the home environment and as a result finds this stressful and is not comfortable with other dogs. Minstrel would have to be the only dog in the home and he does not like cats.

Minstrel needs a special home with someone understanding who would take the time to help him gain confidence, to settle and enable him to carry on with his training plan; this would be fully supported by a Canine Behaviourist who currently is working with him. This is what she has to say about him;

‘Minstrel is a lovely boy who needs a calm environment to improve his confidence and to continue with his training. He took to agility and clicker training instantly and is improving greatly on his impulse control. Anyone who considers taking him into their home would see that with patience and understanding he has huge potential’.

Mishka Mishka Mishka

Mishka * Reserved * at Dumfries & Galloway Canine Rescue Centre

A Female Black and white Husky cross Collie who is age 6 years

Not Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Not Good With Dogs

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Dovecotewell, by Glencaple Dumfries Dumfries and Galloway DG1 4RH

Reference: 17/086 Approx Age: 6 years

Description

There is no doubt about it, Mishka is absolutely beautiful. It does however take her a while to feel comfortable around strangers. She has come from a home with two adults but proved very uncomfortable around children. Mishka is reactive towards dogs and has never shared her space with other pets. This bonnie girl cannot be trusted near sheep or livestock as she does have a predatory streak. Mishka is house trained and tends to only toilet on grass. She enjoys going in the car and once she has gained your trust, she has a very affectionate side.

History

Mishka's owner have had to make the very difficult decision to rehome her. She has proven very predatory toward sheep and after trying their hardest to help her with her behavioural issues, they feel they can no longer give her the attention she requires.

Re-homing Criteria

We are looking for an owner who has experience with husky or working stock collies and who is able to commit to her training and socialising. Mishka needs a home without children and where she won't come into contact with sheep. Ideally, someone who can give Mishka their full one to one attention and understands that she can be reactive when out on walks. She is in search of an owner who will use reward based training with her.

Homefinder Questionnaire

If you'd like to help rehome Mishka simply complete the Homefinder Questionnaire to get started.

This is our very handsome albie, he is an older gent who is not coping well in kennels at all. We are looking for a quiet home preferably with larger bull breed experience. He is quite strong on lead but is responding well to our kennel walkers and is improving every day. Albie is very good in a home environment and can be left for a few hours with no problems at all. We would love to see our lovely Albie in a foster or forever home very soon. An older dog like Albie should have a nice warm home to call his own.

If you feel you have space in you life for Albie please submit an adoption form http://www.anydogildorescue.org/adoption-enquiry-form.html and someone will be in touch - please remember to include a valid email address and contact number.

Shadow Shadow Shadow

Shadow at Borders Pet Rescue

A Male Crossbreed German Shepherd

Not Good With Other Pets

Contact Shelter Adoption Form

Shelter Location: Craigsford Earlston Scottish Borders TD4 6DJ

Please note: initial viewings are by appointment only. Thanks.

Shadow is around 4 years old and is a German Shepherd Cross.

Shadow came in to us from another rescue where they had been unable to find him his forever home through no fault of his own. Shadow currently weighs about 45kg and even though he is on a bit of a diet he is still a very big and powerful dog so anyone interested must seriously consider if they are physically able to manage him. Furthermore, being such a big dog, he will need a home where he has enough space inside and also a garden big enough to play in.

Shadow would be best suited to a quiet home without young children or cats, but he could potentially live with another dog

Type of home needed

Bertie came to us as a stray and we have limited information on him, we will be looking for patient owners who have time to settle him in and continue with his basic training. He doesn't like being fussed over so would be best suited to an adult home with owners who will give him time to settle.

Good With Children Not Good With Other Pets Good With Dogs

Shelter Location: Various Locations

Larry is a super house guest, walks nicely on a lead and is fine with a neutered male SBT he lives with. However he does need work outside with strange dogs so we are looking to place him as an only dog. He isn't keen on cats either.
He is great with kids and has been around kids who visit his fosterer of ages 3 and upwards. He came to us weak around his backend but has got much stronger now his muscles have built up and he is no longer malnourished. He doesn't need a lot of exercise and is happy with shorter walks although can manage further if it were needed on occasion. Larry is in good health and condition

Larry is an older male with some hind limb weakness though has really improved with regular exercise and a home environment.

He is fab with dogs and kids but doesn't seem good with cats. He is a very sweet dog who would make a fab companion. He is living with a neutered older male SBT at the moment
